Olympique Lyonnais right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles (28) appeared at a press conference ahead of the Europa League match against PAOK. Speaking to journalists, the Englishman discussed his future at OL.
“I’m not concerned with transfers. I’m 100% focused on OL, and I want to stay here: there’s no possibility of a transfer in my mind,” Maitland-Niles said. “I think I’m going through a good period. The manager is happy with me, and I’m having a great season,” said the England international.
Having arrived on a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer of 2023, the London native recently reached the symbolic milestone of 100 appearances for Les Rouge et Bleu. An impressive achievement for a player with over 100 Premier League appearances to his name. “It was a surprise for me to reach 100 games with OL so quickly. What I like is starting to develop as an established player within this team,” he added.
Currently under contract with Les Gones until June 2027, Maitland-Niles has no intention of leaving France during the upcoming transfer window, despite several rumours of his departure circulating in recent months.
This season, the former Arsenal and Southampton man has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and registering three assists. His performances have helped OL excel in the UEFA Europa League and have his side in the hunt for UEFA Champions League qualification in Ligue 1.
