Inter Milan talisman Marcus Thuram delivered his verdict on last night’s clinical Champions League victory against Ajax.
Speaking to UEFA TV via FCInterNews, ‘Ticus’ hailed Inter’s set-piece strength.
Marcus Thuram risked falling out of favor with the Nerazzurri faithful after Saturday’s Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus.
Indeed, his relaxed demeanor during Inter’s heartbreaking defeat raised questions about his commitment to the club.
Despite the goal, his behavior drew attention for all the wrong reasons.
Therefore, the Frenchman had amends to make last night. And he atoned for his past mistakes.
Two thumping headers on either side of halftime earned him a flattering ‘Man of the Match’ award.
More importantly, his goals helped Cristian Chivu claim a precious win on his touchline debut in the Champions League.
Curiously, both goals were the product of Inter’s lethal set-piece plays.
Needless to say, Hakan Calhanoglu made two assists, with his corner-kick deliveries catching the Ajax defense off guard.

Thuram’s two goals were identical. Indeed, he pounced on Calhanoglu’s crosses at the near post to register his second brace of the season.
After the match, he praised the Turkish playmaker for his remarkable set-piece ability.
“Have I been practicing corners recently? No,” Thuram stated. “We know that Calhanoglu is very good at taking corners, as is Dimarco.
“It was one of our strengths last season, and we hope to continue like this,” he added.
Then, he explained how Inter never underestimated Ajax despite the Lancers’ recent struggles.
“Ajax is a very offensive team and very good at playing with the ball,” he claimed. “We knew that.
“We had to be patient, without opening ourselves up too much. That’s what we did.”
Inter can now focus on returning to winning ways in Serie A as they entertain Sassuolo at home this weekend.
