Despite finding the net, Marcus Thuram made the headlines for the wrong reasons last weekend.

Indeed, his calm demeanor toward the end of Inter’s 4-3 defeat in Turin made the Nerazzurri faithful furious.

However, the 28-year-old returned to the fans’ good graces with a game-winning double in Amsterdam.

Thuram’s goals settled the match at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Yet, Yann Sommer made a crucial contribution at 0-0. Indeed, he pulled off a superb save to deny Mika Godts in a one-on-one.

Sommer’s stop gained more weight when Thuram opened the scoring two minutes later.

In doing so, both Nerazzurri stars silenced their doubters. Furthermore, they reaffirmed their importance to Cristian Chivu’s project.

Despite being pressured to bench Sommer, Chivu gave the veteran the benefit of the doubt, which paid off massively.
