De Telegraaf reports that Ajax captain Dušan Tadić did not train for a second day in a row. The 34-year-old attacker turned up to De Toekomst with his agent on Thursday to hold a 30-minute conversation with Ajax’s technical director Sven Mislintat. Tadić is reportedly unhappy with the current selection at Ajax and he thinks top players need to be signed quickly.
Ajax have a different opinion on the current squad situation. Mislintat and financial director Susan Lenderink believe that too much money has been spent in recent years and that less has to be can be spent on new signings due to Ajax missing out on the Champions League. Also, the club want to cut player wages considerably. Sales must be made before new faces are brought into the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Dušan Tadić joined Ajax from Southampton in the summer of 2018. Since then he’s played 241 times, scoring 105 goals and providing 112 assists. In the past, he’s played with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek, André Onana and Sébastien Haller. Now the squad is lacking the strength it previously held.
Another disappointing season like the last campaign, which saw Ajax finish in third place, is not something that Dušan Tadić wants to experience again. The Serbian international seems to be edging closer to the exit door at Ajax.
