Ajax confirm Michel as head coach on deal to 2028

Ajax have confirmed Michel as their new head coach.

The club have been searching for a permanent successor since John Heitinga left last season, with Fred Grim and Oscar Garcia taking interim charge.

Jordi Cruyff has made the appointment, with Michel signing a contract until the summer of 2028.

Michel was most recently head coach of Girona, leaving at the end of the season after their relegation from La Liga. He had previously led them into the Champions League by finishing third in 2024.

Ajax endured a disappointing campaign but still booked a place in the Conference League, and they hope Michel can move them closer to challenging PSV Eindhoven.
