Ajax have high hopes for the arrival of Vitezslav Jaros, according to De Telegraaf (via VoetbalPrimeur). The 23-year-old Liverpool goalkeeper looks likely to come to the Johan Cruyff ArenA on loan.
Jaros, who worked with John Heitinga during his time at Liverpool, is considered a real promising European goalkeeping talent. Last season, he got his chance in the Reds’ first team.
On 5 October, he came on as a substitute against Crystal Palace, where he secured Liverpool’s 1-0 lead after Alisson was injured and Kelleher was absent. A few weeks later, he played 90 minutes in the League Cup against Brighton.
Since his move from Slavia Prague in 2017, Jaros has been loaned to several clubs from Merseyside, including Notts County, Stockport County and Austrian Bundesliga outfit Sturm Graz.
His development has not gone unnoticed: in June 2024 he made his debut for the Czech Republic national team. Earlier this year, he signed a new contract at Anfield, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
Ajax want to bring Jaros to Amsterdam for a year to increase between the sticks. Remko Pasveer will stay in Amsterdam, but his contract has still not been extended. Matheus left Ajax after his six-month loan stay came to an end. Jay Gorter is also still an option for the Amsterdammers.
