According to Diario Do Peixe, Ajax are preparing a bid to sign right-back João Pedro Chermont, but Santos are expected to reject it.
København had an initial loan offer with a purchase option worth three million euros turned down, then Ajax made the same proposal for the same amount, which was also rejected.
Ajax are now expected to offer three million euros for a permanent deal. President Marcelo Teixeira has told staff it is an election year and he does not want to lose another full-back, after João Victor Souza’s move to Tottenham.
Chermont would only depart for a higher fee. Chelsea offered six million euros last year, but Santos wanted 10 million and talks stalled. Coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda has told the defender he sits behind Igor Vinicius and Mayke and must wait for his chance.
Santos signed Gabriel Menino less than a month ago, and he can also cover at right-back. The player and his camp feel stuck, with the board unwilling to sanction minutes elsewhere or a sale, and the football department not prioritising him.
Chermont is contracted until the end of 2027. He debuted in the 2024 Paulistão, later became a Série B regular, then dropped to the under-20s, featured at the Copinha, and was listed against Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday.
