Ajax have officially announced the signing of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani after weeks of speculation. The experienced Italian joins the Amsterdam club on a season-long loan deal valid until June 2025. It’s a standard loan with no buy option.
Rugani has featured 148 times for Juve over fifteen years, making 17 appearances in the Champions League. Ajax becomes the fourth club of his career and he’ll now link up with Italian head coach, and close friend Francesco Farioli. The 30-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Amsterdam and has all the attributes to help the club improve after last seasons disastrous campaign.
Ajax’s technical director Alex Kroes has had his say on the new acquisition: ‘With Daniele Rugani, we are bringing in a player who has years of experience in one of the top European leagues. He is an intelligent, tall defender who is strong in duels. His arrival provides an experience boost for our squad and relatively young defense. This way, the team will be more balanced.’
