Ajax to bring in former Wigan Athletic midfielder to support Fred Grim | OneFootball

According to ESPN, Ajax have brought in former Wigan Athletic midfielder Denny Landzaat to assist Fred Grim at Ajax. Landzaat returns to the club were he began his playing career, although he did not feature much for the Ajax first team before leaving for a career that included many Dutch sides and brief spell in the Premier League with Wigan. Landzaat worked with Grim at Willem II before and has most recently been working with Patrick Kluivert as his assistant with the Indonesian national team.

Ajax placed Grim in temporary charge after they decided to part ways with former Everton man John Heitinga following a poor start to the season. Grim’s time in interim charge of Ajax did not get off to a great start either, with the side losing to Utrecht in his first game in charge. Ajax are currently fourth in the Eredivisie, with five wins, five draws and two defeats in 12 games. ajax are also bottom of the Champions League after losing all their games so far.
