Nottingham Forest look to have a potential solution for Oleksandr Zinchenko, with a move away from the City Ground edging closer.

De Telegraaf reports that Ajax are working to finalise a loan for the rest of the season, with an agreement reportedly reached with Arsenal and only minor details outstanding. The Dutch club are said to be keen to sign him permanently in the summer, and the 29-year-old is said to be open to the switch, with talks said to be under way with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Forest had considered ending the Arsenal full-back’s loan early after a difficult spell. The absence of a break clause, and no space for him in the Gunners’ squad, complicated matters.

Since arriving on deadline day in the summer, he has made 10 appearances, only five in the Premier League. Ola Aina’s return from injury has pushed him further down the pecking order.

In his pre-match press conference, Sean Dyche said he had spoken to the player about his situation. “We have spoken to the player and made it clear in his situation. He is aware of that so we will see what happens,” he said.

Forest drew 0-0 with Arsenal, for whom Zinchenko was ineligible. The point could prove important, leaving them five points above the bottom three.
