Fenerbahçe beat Beşiktaş 1-0 in İstanbul as Kerem Aktürkoğlu converted a penalty in the 11th minute of second half stoppage time to lift the hosts to second place.

Kanarya thought they had gone ahead in the 58th minute when Archibald Norman Brown finished, but VAR ruled the effort out for offside.

Ersin Destanoğlu kept Kara Kartal in the game with five saves. Ederson denied Hyeon-gyu Oh's early header with a smart stop.

After Marco Asensio went off injured and Fred came on, substitute Aktürkoğlu added thrust and forced a low save before deciding the contest from the spot.

Nene Dorgeles drew the late foul, Emmanuel Agbadou was penalised, and Aktürkoğlu converted from the spot in the 11th minute of second half stoppage time.

Eight minutes of added time were initially indicated by the fourth official, setting up a long, tense finale.

Kanarya finished with 55.7% possession and 10 corners, underlining their territorial edge. Kara Kartal registered 14 attempts but hit the target only twice.

Next, Kanarya visit Kayserispor in the Süper Lig. Kara Kartal host Antalyaspor.
