Al-Ahli aim to bring in former France manager Didier Deschamps, but… | OneFootball

Although he has now turned a new page in his career as manager of the French national team, Didier Deschamps has no intention of calling it a day. Quite the opposite, in fact. At 57, the two-time World Cup winner hopes to continue his footballing journey, “in one form or another”, as he recently explained.

Unsurprisingly, he has been in high demand, and his name has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks, including Al-Ahli, with whom Deschamps is reported to have held talks, according to RMC Sport. However, it now seems unlikely that the former Olympique de Marseille manager will join the Saudi club. This is largely due to the decision-making process inherent in local football, in which several stakeholders are involved in strategic decisions. This context works against a swift arrival for the former Les Bleus manager.

Appointed as head coach of the French national team in July 2012, Deschamps oversaw 187 matches – including 122 victories – and led the side to the World Cup title in 2018, before falling at the final hurdle four years later.
