Al-Ahly is on the verge of losing one of its top talents, the Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali. And the club looks determined not to let any more key players slip away.
To safeguard the core of the squad for next season, Al-Ahly’s technical director José Ribeiro has drawn up a list of seven players who are strictly not for sale.
This list is made up mainly of players who shone during the recent FIFA Club World Cup, especially in the thrilling 4-4 draw against Porto.
Among them are Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Marwan Attia, Aliou Dieng, Trezeguet, Zizo, Achraf Bencharki, and Emam Ashour, who was sidelined after playing just a few minutes in the opening match against Inter Miami (0-0).
It’s worth noting that the Cairo club has chosen Tabarka, Tunisia, as the location for its pre-season training camp, where it will play three friendlies: against CS Constantine (July 21), an opponent yet to be confirmed (July 25), and ES Sahel (July 28).
