Egyptian giants Al Ahly played to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Petrojet in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday night.

The home side took the lead through Hamed Hamdan in the 12th minute, before Nejc Gradisar leveled matters for the Red Devils one minute after the hour mark.

As a result, Ahly missed an opportunity to return to a familiar residence at the summit of the table as they trail log leaders Ceramica Cleopatra with one point after 11 games played.

Jesse Thorup's men will be aiming to improve on their 22-point tally when they host Al Masry in their next league outing in Cairo on Sunday.

Meanwhile, fierce rivals Zamalek, who are enduring a dip in form after a flying start, will be looking to narrow the gap as they currently sit in fifth place with 18 points.

The White Knights return to action with a visit to National Bank on Thursday and will be aiming to snap a three-game winless run.
