Egyptian club Al Ahly has been dealt a heavy blow following confirmation of a serious injury to right-back Karim Fouad, who suffered a partial cruciate ligament tear in his knee—a setback that prematurely ends his season.

The defender picked up the knee injury during Al Ahly’s clash with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, played last Thursday as part of the Egyptian Premier League.

This marks Karim Fouad’s third cruciate ligament injury, following previous setbacks in the 2022-2023 and 2024-2025 seasons.

Club doctor Dr. Ahmed Gaballah confirmed that medical examinations revealed a partial cruciate ligament rupture.

He also stated that the medical report has been forwarded to the German specialist who previously operated on the player, in order to consult on the most suitable treatment plan and try to minimize his time on the sidelines.

It’s worth noting that the Red Devils are gearing up to face Tala'ea El Gaish on Monday, March 9 in the league, before taking on Espérance Sportive de Tunis on March 13 in the CAF Champions League.
