Al-Hilal ‘to announce’ Benzema settlement as Al-Shabab approach rejected | OneFootball

Karim Benzema’s impasse with Al-Hilal has deepened, with the striker rejecting all proposals except two, full payment of his demands or a mutual termination that covers every penny he is owed.

Asharq Al-Awsat reports that Al-Shabab have approved a move and asked the Saudi Pro League to help finalise it, yet Benzema has refused to join. He has told Al-Hilal he will either stay or agree a mutual exit that pays him through 30 June 2027.

The same report says he earns 25 million dollars a year in his club deal, with about 20.8 million dollars due from September to the end of June 2030. It also details a separate Saudi Pro League recruitment contract worth 23 million dollars annually until 2030 for promotional work, with around 330.6 million riyals still outstanding. That agreement prevents him from playing outside Saudi Arabia during its term, and a switch to another Saudi club would keep it intact.

Al-Shabab would first need to offload 30-year-old English player Josh Brownhill. Sources in the same report described Benzema’s stance as the main obstacle, and he is also said to oppose being registered only on Al-Hilal’s Asian list for the AFC Champions League Elite.

Alyaum reports that Al-Hilal could announce a financial settlement with Benzema this Sunday, formally ending their relationship, and that the club are weighing termination at Simone Inzaghi’s request. His next step remains unclear.
