Fahd Al-Harifi, the former Al-Nassr star, has launched a fierce critique of Al-Hilal’s hierarchy, accusing them of financial waste and questioning oversight as the club carries a large contingent of foreign players despite recent exits.
According to Goal.com, Al-Nassr’s own debts from last season have restricted their spending this window, with only Portuguese midfielder Samu Costa arriving so far.
Al-Harifi argued that Al-Hilal’s approach raises serious questions about how finances and regulatory checks are being handled. He cited outgoing deals involving Neymar, Marcos Leonardo and João Cancelo, then claimed the squad still contains 17 foreign players, which he labelled wasteful.
He also challenged the transparency of funding and the consistency of standards across clubs, invoking Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal’s role. He questioned who is paying salaries, including Cancelo’s while his Barcelona situation remains unresolved, and said the current landscape does not ensure fair competition.
Describing Al-Hilal as chaotic and disorganised, Al-Harifi said he would not rule out the departures of Karim Benzema and Yassine Bounou, adding that the club could even replace Benzema with a better player.
His intervention revives debate over the transfer market gulf in the Roshn League, with the Al-Nassr great insisting some rivals enjoy far greater room to manoeuvre on player and salary files, an area he says needs clearer oversight.
