Alan Lescano has arrived in Rio to complete medicals ahead of signing for Vasco. The Argentine playmaker is in town as he looks to finalise his move to the club of São Januário.

According to PaponaColina, he landed at Galeão International Airport in the early hours to undergo tests before formalising a permanent deal. In the terminal he spoke to reporters, saying he was very happy to arrive and that he hopes all goes well before joining the group.

Asked about his role, he described himself as a creative midfielder who looks to dictate play and make team-mates play, adding he will try to give his best.

His signing fills a long-standing gap in the squad, adding line-breaking passes, peripheral vision and late runs into the box. He arrives on the back of a strong season in South American football and is expected to broaden Vasco’s attacking repertoire.

Head coach Pedro Emanuel had requested a link player to operate close to the wingers and centre forwards. There is an expectation the new arrival could offer tactical alternatives to the current model and share creation with the side’s ball-playing midfielders.

Before heading off for further assessments, he sent a message to supporters, saying they would leave everything on the pitch and aim to take Vasco as high as possible.

Once cleared by the medical staff, Lescano will proceed to CT Moacyr Barbosa to complete paperwork, meet his new team-mates and join training.
