Alan Smith has weighed in on speculation linking Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki with Arsenal, suggesting it would not be a surprise if the 21-year-old caught the eye of leading clubs this summer.

According to Sunderland Echo, the former Arsenal striker feels a move could make sense, with discussion around bolstering midfield options after Martin Zubimendi’s mixed first season in England.

He noted that Arsenal might look to strengthen in that area and described Sadiki as a different, more aggressive profile.

He highlighted Sadiki’s energy, work across the pitch, tenacity in the tackle and tactical awareness, and said the youngster could be attracting attention from bigger clubs. He added that Arsenal perhaps look in that area.

Since arriving on Wearside last year, Sadiki has impressed with tireless midfield displays and has already been linked elsewhere, including Manchester United and Chelsea. Sunderland signed Sadiki for an initial £15 million from Union Saint-Gilloise, and he has made 30 appearances in all competitions.
