Deportivo Alavés have sacked Serbian defender Nikola Maras for disciplinary reasons. The club said in a statement that a manifest, voluntary and sustained drop in his agreed performance, established after a contradictory procedure under the AFE-LALIGA collective agreement, justified the decision, and that he did not file any representations.
The resolution was based on an internal report assessing the defender’s output across his entire time at Alavés.
The analysis drew on multiple performance tools, including technical-tactical data from Wyscout, competitive physical metrics via SkillCorner, and training load and behaviour tracked through Catapult and WIMU.
Maras, contracted in Vitoria until 2027, arrived in 2023-24 from Almería on loan. He featured in 20 Segunda matches and helped the side that went up to Primera División before a meniscus injury curtailed his progress.
He later had loan spells with Levante, Sporting de Gijón and Mirandés. He returned to Vitoria and completed this pre-season.
