Despite having both asked to leave Nantes, France international goalkeeper Alban Lafont (25) and Spanish midfielder Pedro Chirivella (27) are not expected to secure a deadline-day move away from Antoine Kombouaré’s Canaris, according to a report from L’Equipe. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was courted by Francesco Farioli’s AFC Ajax but all signs point to him spending a sixth consecutive season on the Erdre banks with Nantes having set a €15m price tag on the goalkeeper.
Lafont notably started the season with Nantes in impressive fashion, keeping consecutive clean sheets against Toulouse and Auxerre. Nantes are set to secure the signing of Sweden international Patrik Carlgren as an understudy for Lafont. As for Chirivella, the former Liverpool midfielder was expected to leave too, but the outlet understands that Nantes had no intention to sell the Spaniard for a bargain fee. Chirivella started the first two Ligue 1 games for Nantes this campaign.
