Albanian Star Reveals Why He Left Inter Milan For Torino: “An Easy Choice For Me” | OneFootball

Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani has revealed more about his decision to leave Inter Milan for Torino this summer.

The 23-year-old joined the Turin side on loan with an option-to-buy, following three quiet seasons in Milan.

Speaking to the club’s official channels, with quotes via FCInterNews, Asllani went into more detail about his Inter departure.

“I wanted to come here because I believed in the project,” the midfielder said.

“They really wanted me and it was an easy choice for me,” he continued, “They were stressful days, the transfer market is difficult, I was at Inter and had many offers.”

He revealed “At first, I was afraid to decide straight away and leave because I wanted a project that would help me.”

“I needed to play”, the Albanian added.

Asllani was informed by the Nerazzurri over the summer that there were no guarantees he would get the game time he wanted.

Inter signed Croatian midfielder Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb and Frenchman Andy Diouf from Lens this summer.

Therefore, the Albanian was pushed further down the pecking order and thus he chose to leave the club.

“The pressure from the President, the Director and the coach was crucial in my decision,” he added, “they all believe in me.”

The Albanian also discussed his time at Inter and what he learned from the experience.

“I started as a starter for Empoli in the January and then I joined Inter.

“It was a big call: I’ve always been an Inter fan so it was easy to say yes,” he added, “I had three wonderful years and I thank everyone at Inter.

“My first year was very exciting,” Asllani said, “playing in that jersey truly is something else.

“I lifted my first trophies, even though I did not play much that year.

“But I grew alongside big players and learned a lot.”

Asllani also revealed he benefitted a lot from talismanic midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

“Developing alongside him is wonderful – he’s a wonderful guy and he helped me off the pitch too. Not only him but everyone else was important to my growth. Now I feel like a better man.”
