Eintracht Frankfurt’s abysmal form continues as they have only picked up a single point from four games after losing away at Borussia Dortmund. Despite Albert Riera’s positive outlook on things, the Spaniard is expected to leave the club after their last game of the season against VfB Stuttgart.

"What should I say on my part? Time is the key to life. So if I have the time, I will continue to improve this squad because I know how to do that,” Riera said in his post-match interview. “If I don't have the time, I can only try to get the best out of all of us in every single game.”

The 44-year-old emphasized Frankfurt could win more points if they could repeat their performance on Friday in other games. “We came here for points and did not reach our goal. We talked a lot this week and developed three solutions.

“First, the experienced players should stand out and strengthen the young. Second, to be a team. We fought for each other as one. Third, compactness to attack and defend together. All of this we have implemented, and that is the basis. We have all shown the attributes of commitment, leadership, communication, and positivity."

However, sporting director Markus Krösche had a different conclusion after the game as he raised mentality issue. "We have now lost the game. Of course, that is extremely annoying. Now it's about us winning the game against Stuttgart," the 45-year-old said.

Krösche emphasized Riera will indeed be at the helm for the last home game of the season before they discuss his future at the club. Sky reported this week that the club internally decided to go their separate ways with Riera. Freiburg can secure a seventh-place finish ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt with a win either against HSV or RB Leipzig.
