Albacete head coach Alberto González is unbeaten in six meetings with CD Castellón, the opponent he has faced most often without losing.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, his coaching career started in the amateur game and progressed step by step into the professional ranks.

The first two clashes came with Linares Deportivo in Primera Federación in 2021/22, after Castellón’s relegation from Segunda División. The opener ended 1-1, Mario Barco scoring for Castellón, and the return finished 3-0 to Linares against Sergi Escobar’s side.

From Albacete’s dugout, González’s first meeting ended 0-0, with Schreuder’s Castellón unable to create sustained threat.

The Castalia return shifted the tone, as two highly contentious calls shaped it. A Markanich goal was ruled out for a marginal offside, and despite a VAR review a clear double penalty shout, first for a hold then for handball on the striker, was not awarded.

On González’s third visit to SkyFi Castalia, Albacete edged it by one, again amid key decisions. A possible double penalty at a corner, for a hold on Lucas Alcázar then an arm touch by Jon García, was waved away, and Ronaldo Pompeu received a second yellow early in the second half, leaving Castellón short.

Their most recent meeting at Carlos Belmonte ended 1-1 with little controversy, although Gerenabarrena was sent off in stoppage time and Castellón finished with ten.

González now returns to SkyFi Castalia aiming to add to that record and keep his unbeaten run against CD Castellón intact.
