Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has suffered yet another career setback.
The 21-year-old was one of the team’s star players in the 2023-2024 season, scoring the opening goal in the FA Cup final.
The youngster was once a hero of the Stretford End but now he has transformed himself into a villain.
He fell out with head coach Ruben Amorim after the Europa League final when he was left on the bench until the final minutes of play.
The Argentine has also thoroughly upset numerous fans with his actions on social media such as sporting an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.
What’s more, he has turned down numerous moves this summer as he waits for a deal to Chelsea to transpire but as of yet, they are still offering well below United’s valuation of the player.
Whilst the Argentinian has never been a consistent starter for his national side, he has regularly been called up to the squads.
Nonetheless, he has been offered a stark reminder by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni of his current situation.
The Argentina national side’s website has revealed their squad for upcoming matches against Venezuela and Ecuador next month and there is no place for the winger.
This is the gamble that Garnacho is taking as he has played no part in pre-season since falling out with the manager in May.
Moreover, by refusing a move to anywhere but Chelsea, he risks losing out on a transfer until at least January where he will sit on the sidelines and see no senior action.
This situation is also exacerbated for him as this is a World Cup year and he will surely give everything to stand a chance of being involved in Argentina’s squad.
As things stand however, his dream of representing his national team at a World Cup is fading by the day.
