Alex Nascimento reported back to Santos on Monday 12 and completed medical checks. He will train to build fitness while he awaits a decision on his role, according to Diario Do Peixe.
The club has not presented any loan proposal to his representatives, so he remains on standby. The centre-back pool currently includes Luan Peres, Adonis Frías, Alexis Duarte, Basso and Zé Ivaldo.
Luisão has recently been loaned to Goiás, and Alex could be retained as an option in the squad. His contract runs until December this year.
Last year he had loan spells with Athletic, where he played nine games, and earlier with Portuguesa, where he featured in six. He joined Santos in 2019 after time with São Paulo’s academy and Fluminense, initially for the under-20s.
He debuted for the first team in 2020, then went on loan to Famalicão in Portugal. On his return he had few chances due to injuries and Covid-19, later gaining minutes under Paulo Turra and establishing himself in 2023.
Even so, he played only seven matches that year. Since arriving, he has made 34 appearances and scored one goal.
In 2024 he began the season in physiotherapy after a right ankle fracture in September 2023 during preparation for a Brasileirão match against Cruzeiro. He still managed five Série B outings, against Avaí, Amazonas, Ceará, Paysandu and Ponte Preta.
