Over the years, Liverpool have had a lot of world-class players.

Recently, they've , Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz all being signed by the club.

However, in the past, they've also had some impressive talent grace L4 such as Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.

And, throughout all those years, they've also been seen as one of the world's biggest clubs.

But, at the moment, things just aren't going well.

Andoni Iraola is clearly trying his best to get his team to play at the level he expects them to but, more often than not, they've fallen short.

So, that's why so many players are still being linked with an Anfield switch.

And now, one of those targets has claimed that, in the past, Liverpool had an even better player than David Beckham among their ranks.

Alex Scott believes Steven Gerrard was a better midfielder than David Beckham

As mentioned, over the years, Liverpool have been blessed with tonnes of talented players.

Obviously, until Jurgen Klopp became their manager, they'd never won the Premier League title.

However, before the German's appointment, there weren't all that many top-notch players wanting to make the switch either.

But, one player who stayed true to Liverpool was Steven Gerrard.

Throughout his career, the Englishman was eyed by many clubs from across the world but, he always chose to stay put, apart from at the end of his career when he made the switch to America.

However, while playing for Liverpool, there's no hiding from how good he actually was with long-term Liverpool transfer target Alex Scott even claiming that the Englishman was better than David Beckham.

When asked to blind rank England midfielders by Bournemouth, Scott put Gerrard at the top of his list.

Paul Scholes was second, Frank Lampard was third, Owen Hargreaves was fourth and, David Beckham was fifth.

So, not only did Gerrard get the top spot but, he even managed to beat Premier League stalwarts to that position in the list such as Scholes and Lampard.

Liverpool's current crop of midfielders could learn a lot from Steven Gerrard

It goes without saying that, whenever anyone speaks about Liverpool, one of the first players that they think about is Gerrard.

No matter where the Englishman played in the middle of the park, he always put in as much effort as possible and proved why he was one of the club's best-ever players.

During his time with the Anfield outfit, he featured in 710 games across all competitions and contributed to 342 goals in that time.

In total, he played well over 57,000 minutes of football for the Reds which proves how much loyalty he had to the club.

At the moment, thanks to his impressive performances, some people are comparing Dominik Szoboszlai to the Liverpool legend with some even saying that his strike against Tottenham on Tuesday evening was very Gerrard-esque.

Obviously, nobody will ever live up to Gerrard but, if players could just take a a thing or two from the Englishman, Liverpool would certainly find themselves in a much better place.
