Football pundit and ex-footballer Alex Scott was seen donning the OneLove armband ahead of England’s World Cup opener against Iran.
While Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, Virgil van Dijk and captains of some other countries looked set to wear the OneLove armband in their World Cup openers this week, FIFA informed the English FA that the Tottenham striker will get a yellow card if he follows the fact.
After conversations with the Welsh FA, English FA backed away from the motion and so did the other countries. But Scott, who was present on BBC Sport’s coverage of the World Cup, was seen donning the OneLove armband before the Three Lions’ game against Iran kicked off.
FIFA had threatened the FA, saying that they could also face some other actions apart from the referees having to book Kane early on in the game. If Kane had worn the armband against the USA as well, the striker would have been suspended against Wales.
