Lazio remain in the frame for Ferencvaros midfielder Alex Toth after the 20-year-old reportedly rejected a move to Bournemouth.

Il Messaggero reports that Ferencvaros rejected a €15 million bid from the Cherries, keeping the Serie A club’s faint hopes alive.

Lazio had reached an agreement on personal terms with the player’s entourage but could not agree a fee with Ferencvaros. That impasse allowed Bournemouth to move ahead by tabling a higher offer. Toth had been identified as the preferred replacement for Matteo Guendouzi on the right of Maurizio Sarri’s three-man midfield, with Quinten Timber and Giovanni Fabbian as alternatives.

The report added that the decision followed indications of larger suitors in the market, which could push the price up. Lazio’s chances are described as slight, yet the situation keeps them in contention.

In parallel, Lazio aim to generate funds by selling Reda Belahyane, who is considered surplus at Formello and valued at €10 million.

Torino have targeted the 21-year-old since the start of January, offering a possible reunion with Marco Baroni. Cremonese emerged this week as another option.
