Eddie Howe and the bulk of the Newcastle United squad followed up the Cup Final win with a warm weather training trip to Dubai and also a chance to celebrate the trophy win.

However, Alexander Isak flew to Marbella instead.

The striker joining his international for a training camp there, ahead of two friendlies.

Alexander Isak playing the first hour as Sweden lost 1-0 away in Luxembourg, followed by playing the full match on Tuesday against Northern Ireland.

Alexander Isak speaking to Swedish media after that second and final match of the March internationals, getting a brilliant goal and a cracking assist in a 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland, quotes via Aftonbladet:

“I’m always hungry to score goals, so it was fun.

“I didn’t score a goal last game [against Luxembourg] and you don’t get that many opportunities to play with the national team.

“So it is nice to leave with a goal.”

Alexander Isak asked if the Newcastle United club doctor had sent any worried text messages, after the striker had surprisingly been asked to play the full 90+ minutes of this friendly?

“We always get text messages [from Newcastle United] asking if everything is okay.

“No one had seen anything on the field that looked worrying, everything looked good.”

With the Newcastle United players having posted images on social media of their celebrations in Dubai, Alexander Isak asked if his NUFC teammates had been sending him many updates, especially at night, showing how much they were enjoying themselves…?

“They actually did that, so I had to put my phone on mute.

“But it was fun to watch.”

Alexander Isak asked about Saturday’s planned Newcastle United victory parade and the event that will follow on the Town Moor, with all of the NUFC squad reunited:

“They [NUFC players not on international duty] haven’t been in Newcastle, so I haven’t missed that part.

“We will come back and celebrate with the fans now.

“I think the parade will be incredible.

“It is a bus parade and something more, when you meet the fans on a big field.
