Alexander Isak doesn’t hold any of the cards

Everyone seems to think it’s all up to Alexander Isak what happens next.

I’m not so sure.

Liverpool don’t need Alexander Isak.

They’ve already spent big on a striker and between Ekitike and Salah, they’ll score plenty of goals.

And Newcastle United don’t have to sell Isak.

They have a contract binding him to three more years.

They don’t need to sell.

If they want to, they can stick him in the reserves, or send him out on loan until his attitude changes.

All that Isak has is his talent.

Which is a risky prospect – one injury can take it away, at least temporarily, as he has already shown during his time on Tyneside.

What he did have was the love of the fans and the respect of his manager and teammates. Which has now been completely wasted.

Alexander Isak has been played.

Personally, I think Liverpool’s only intention with the media games and the lowball offer was to turn his head and make him fall out with the manager and his team mates.

They never intended to buy him, just to destabilise a rival and get payback for losing the cup final.

And Isak fell for it hook, line and sinker.
