Angers coach Alexandre Dujeux says a winter move for 19-year-old forward Sidiki Chérif is possible and that the club now expects him to leave.
According to Ouest-France, Dujeux said the current offers mean Angers expect Chérif to depart, adding he has accepted that while the timing remains unclear. He described the teenager as vital to the team and said he will certainly leave.
Paris FC have lodged a €23 million bid for the striker, who has scored 4 goals this season, while Angers value him at €30 million. Villarreal are also in the running.
Pending any breakthrough, Dujeux plans to use Chérif against Le Havre on Sunday at 17:15 in Ligue 1’s 18th round. He said the player is calm and in contention.
Looking at the wider picture, he said a sale would help sustain the club, even if it is not welcome news for him as coach. Angers are ninth in Ligue 1 and operate with the division’s smallest budget.
