Alexandre Dujeux will become Lorient head coach, agreeing a two-year contract with an option for a third, with his signing expected in the coming days. RMC Sport first reported the move.

The 50-year-old left Angers after agreeing with the club to end his two-year contract, and this will be his second stint in a Ligue 1 dugout. He had been the favourite to replace Olivier Pantaloni.

His imminent signature will allow the Breton club to focus on the future shape of the squad.

Lorient’s sporting leadership explored alternatives for some time, considering Will Still, Patrick Videira, Stéphane Gilli and, more recently, Wilfried Nancy. Agreement with Dujeux was reached on Monday.

He impressed by keeping SCO up with a margin despite one of the league’s smallest budgets, and by the clarity with which he presented his ideas. He will arrive in Morbihan with two assistants, including Lamine Mbaye.
