Alexi Lalas stunned fellow pundits Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimović with a crude swipe at James Corden during Fox Sports’ 2026 World Cup coverage.

It came after presenter Rebecca Lowe introduced a promo for the channel’s new nightly World Cup show, FOX After Hours, hosted by Corden. Wales Online reports that, when Lowe asked for their thoughts, Lalas called Corden a "full-kit w***er".

Lowe, Henry and Ibrahimović were left momentarily silent. Lalas then softened his comment by suggesting Corden was simply dressed for the occasion, while Lowe noted they were fortunate to be on American TV and said the term carries a stronger meaning in Britain.

The phrase is widely used in football to describe an adult wearing a full kit despite not playing. The gag referred to footage of the Gavin and Stacey star in a complete USA training kit for the new show.

The clip spread quickly on social media, with viewers surprised it aired live and some initially believing even harsher language had been used. The moment has gone viral as the World Cup unfolds across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Corden’s After Hours launched this week and will run nightly until 15 July. The hour-long programme features the host with Rio Ferdinand and comedian Ian Karmel, offering lighthearted analysis of the day’s matches, which Corden has said aims to feel like a friendly post-match debrief.
