L’Équipe report this evening that Nice are closing in on the signing of midfielder Alexis Beka Beka from Lokomotiv Moscow, with the Frenchman expected to arrive in town tomorrow morning to put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
The 21-year-old had made the move to Russia on a €6m deal last summer after an impressive season at his formative club Caen in Ligue 2, while also appearing in the French squad at the Olympics in Tokyo.
Beka Beka was returning manager Lucien Favre’s priority in terms of midfield recruits, and the France youth international will sign for Les Aiglons on a €14m deal including bonuses.
In the Russian capital, the Paris native made 19 appearances last season and registered four assists as the team finished in sixth place. He has already played two games in the new season but is suspended after picking up a red card. He notably played six times in the Europa League campaign which saw the team finish bottom of their group, finishing behind Galatasaray, Lazio and Marseille.
He now makes a swift return to French football after initially signing a five-year deal with the Russian side.
