Chivas President Amaury Vergara has insisted that Alexis Vega will not be sold to another Liga Mx side.
The 24-year-old has been subject of recent transfer speculation and, although Vergara admitted he understands Vega’s desire to leave the Rojiblancos for a club in Europe, selling him to another Mexican side is off the table.
“No, I wouldn’t sell him [to another Liga Mx side] because I see Vega as a fundamental part of Chivas’ future,” said Vergara.
“Fernando [Hierro] also sees him as a key piece. He has told us that his dream is to play in Europe and I think there is no better place for him.
“Even now with the arrival of Fernando [Hierro], we can prodive him with a platform to achieve his dreams, and that platform in Chivas.”
Vega is expected to play a crucial role in Gerardo Martino’s side in the Qatar World Cup which starts in mid-November.
