Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper has been out of action since September
The Brazilian goalkeeper limped off during Liverpool’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Galatasaray at the end of September and has been sidelined ever since.
A hamstring injury has seen Alisson miss the last seven games in succession across all competitions and he will also sit out Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Furthermore, he has not been named in the Brazil squad for friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia.
However, Alisson is expected to be available for selection after the international break as Arne Slot has pencilled in the home game against Nottingham Forest on November 22 as the return date.
Speaking in the pre-Man City press conference on Friday, Slot said: "Alisson for sure and I expect Jeremie [Frimpong] back after the international break as well because we play from November until March!
"But I don't expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest, but with Alisson we expect this."
Alisson’s absence has seen Giorgi Mamardashvili start six of the last seven games, with fellow summer signing Freddie Woodman handed a debut in the Carabao Cup fourth-round defeat by Crystal Palace.
The Georgia international has been able to keep back-to-back clean sheets against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, having previously failed to keep one against Chelsea, Manchester United, Eintracht Frankfurt or Brentford.
Mamardashvili will keep goal for Liverpool against Man City on Sunday but faces a huge battle to hold on to the No1 shirt once Alisson is fully fit.
