Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson says he hopes Mo Salah has not played his last game for the club.

Salah has been left out of the Liverpool squad for the trip to Inter Milan after an interview following the draw with Leeds in which he said he felt “thrown under the bus” at the club.

“Him not being available is a consequence of what he did, and he’s smart enough to know that,” Alisson said on Salah being left out.

“I didn’t speak to Mo about it, about how I want to talk. As I said before, we have a good relationship. He’s not just a team-mate. We spend so much time together. We don’t spend too much time away from the training ground but we are friends. We are good friends.

“You share so many moments together. Happy moments, sad moments. So that creates a bond between people and I will have a conversation (with him) but this is going to be private because it’s personal.”

Asked if he thinks Salah has played his last game for the club, with the forward alluding to the game against Brighton on Saturday potentially being the final time he plays for Liverpool, the Brazilian replied: “I don’t think anything.

“What I hope is that he plays for the club again, but that’s a personal situation, between Mo and the club.

“We as his friends, as his team-mates, hope the best thing happens for him but as Liverpool players we want the best for the club as well. We want a win/win situation for everyone.”

Alisson also says he personally did not feel disrespected by Salah’s comments.

“I don’t believe his goal was to disrespect anyone,” he said.

“He has the freedom to talk about how he feels about his own situation. What we expect is a player that wants to play, that is not comfortable being on the bench, but again, you have the freedom to talk but you need to deal with consequences of that. I think that’s clear.

“As a team, it’s not important about how we feel, it’s important how we are going to react.

“After the interview, I thought it would be really weird, but it wasn’t. Again, we are grown up men, we know it’s about a personal situation and we respect that.”
