Liverpool faced off against Olympic Marseille in the UEFA Champions League earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result on the road. The Reds made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the first half injury-time thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai’s free-kick. Arne Slot’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Geronimo Rulli scored an unfortunate own goal in the 72nd minute before Cody Gakpo got his name on the scoresheet as well in injury time. The contest finished with Liverpool securing a comfortable 3-0 win away from home.
He made his fair share of saves during the game and did enough to keep a clean sheet.
RB: Jeremie Frimpong – 7.5/10
Frimpong came back to defend when needed and had a lively game in the Marseille half.
CB: Joe Gomez – 7/10
He dealt with the danger when he could and did enough to limit the opposition from scoring tonight.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 7.5/10
Van Dijk organised his backline well and was a strong presence in the air.

LB: Milos Kerkez – 7.5/10
He didn’t do much wrong defensively and made one good chance going forward.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister – 7/10
Mac Allister worked hard defensively and linked up play well with others around him.
CM: Ryan Gravenberch – 8/10
He was a positive influence at both ends of the field and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – 8/10
Szoboszlai managed to shine at times in the final third and scored the opener with a good free-kick in the latter stages of the first half.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 7/10
He managed to catch the eye at times, but there was no goal for him.
ST: Hugo Ekitike – 7/10
Ekitike was a real handful for the Marseille defenders and did everything but score tonight.
LW: Florian Wirtz – 7/10
He made two positive runs with the ball but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
LW: Cody Gakpo – 7/10
He did well to score late in the game.
