A supercomputer has ranked which second tier sides had the best and worst windows, but do you agree?

The summer transfer window was one of extreme chaos right throughout Europe, with deals even taking until the morning after the 11PM deadline of Tuesday, September 1st to be officially confirmed.

The Championship was no exception to those rules either, and in some ways, it was made even harder for all 24 managers and head coaches in the second tier to do as much late business as possible due to the fixture schedule, which saw six matches take place on the night of the deadline, whilst other chiefs in the division could add to their squad still with time to prepare their midweek fixture.

The make-up of this season's Championship in terms of club sizes, and therefore the players which some have been able to attract and retain, has been quite remarkable.

Add this to the fact the second tier has undergone a restructure, with plenty of clubs now sure to be targeting a top-eight finish and have some form of involvement in the play-offs, which will begin next May with eliminator rounds.

However, coupled with their starts to the season, many have already discussed which clubs have 'won' the transfer window, and this debate has now been put to the test by AI Humanizer tool, GoHumanise, which has ranked all 24 clubs based on whether their 'Squad Quality Score' has increased or decreased since last term.

24 ? ? Burnley

According to the aforementioned model, it is newly-relegated Burnley who have endured the joint-worst transfer window in the Championship under the newly-appointed Nicky Hayen.

Despite adding the services of 10 new signings, which included Deadline Day swoops for Reo Hatate and Largie Ramazani, the Clarets lost the goalscoring prowess of Zian Flemming to Ipswich Town for £20m, whilst being unable to source a swift replacement, only adding to supporter frustrations at the start of the campaign.

Their East Lancashire rivals, Blackburn Rovers have also scored a -2.0 Squad Quality Score after their first transfer window of the season.

As has been the case for some time at Ewood Park, investment hasn't exactly been free-flowing this summer, limiting Tony Mowbray to the addition of just four players.

Meanwhile, going out of the club have been the likes of Sidnei Tavares, Sondre Tronstad and Ryan Hedges in terms of standout names.

Meanwhile, West Ham United's squad is said to have decreased in quality by a score of -1.3, despite the fact 10 signings have been made at the London Stadium.

The Irons were expected to, and did lose, the services of Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville for big-money fees, although they were able to keep Jarrod Bowen, at least in the short-term.

As such, many could disagree with this score due to the strength of the squad which still remains at Nuno's disposal.

Wolves have endured an intriguing first transfer window under Cesar Peixoto, with plenty of incomings and outgoings contributing to a Squad Quality Score of -1.2.

The standout Molineux departure was Joao Gomes, who moved to Midlands rivals, Aston Villa for £38m, but eight additions were made in total, with two of those providing immense high-level experience in the form of Kieran Trippier and previous Molineux favourite, Raul Jimenez.

The club with the fifth-worst transfer window according to said model are Preston North End, with Paul Heckingbottom's squad quality decreasing by 1.

That is despite the fact the Lilywhites parted with a club-record transfer fee in July to lure Alfie Devine back to Deepdale from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis, whilst they also lost the goals of Milutin Osmajic to Serie A outfit, Genoa.

Charlton Athletic sit 19th on this list despite the fact Nathan Jones' squad have had an impressive start to the season.

As many as 10 new players have joined the Welshman's squad this summer, including the return of experienced forward, Karlan Grant, on a free transfer.

Several names have also departed, but with a Squad Quality Score decrease of just 0.5, it doesn't mean the Addicks' squad has got worse.

Perhaps the biggest loss at Lincoln City this summer was former head coach, Michael Skubala, with Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw overseeing a transfer window which leaves them with a weaker Squad Quality Score of 54, according to AI's model.

The Imps have made a plethora of signings, which represent a nice blend of youthfulness and Championship experience, but one key on-field loss is Jack Moylan to Cardiff City, with the Irishman scoring 11 times in just 31 League One matches last season.

It has been a summer of chaos at Sheffield United, but despite this, AI's model believes Chris Wilder's squad has increased in quality by 0.4%.

Both Gus Hamer and last term's Player of the Year, Callum O'Hare, have departed for relatively sizeable fees, whilst only five acquisitions were made on low-cost or loan deals as a well-documented legal dispute between COH Sports and Prince Abdullah led the club to alter its transfer strategy late in the window

It was a tale of four players in and six out for Cardiff City, with the aforementioned model claiming Brian Barry-Murphy's squad has strengthened 0.5% in terms of overall quality.

The likes of Krystian Bielik will provide extensive Championship experience amid a defensive injury crisis, whilst Moylan has already proven his worth after signing from Lincoln, added to the fact many of the departures have been sanctioned on a loan basis.

Watford's squad has also seen a Squad Quality Score increase of 0.5% to 72.5% overall, with Alessio Dionisi extremely busy in the latter hours of the window.

The trio of Soumalia Coulibaly, Stephy Mavididi and Myron Boadu added further quality on Deadline Day to what, on paper, is an exciting squad to assess despite the high-profile departures of Australian and Moroccan internationals, Nestory Irankunda and Imran Louza respectively.
