“It has been my third time at the VCF Academy Coaches Convention and it has been my favourite because we have gone even deeper into the content, into the relationships between the coaches… everything that Valencia CF does makes me happy every time I come to the Coaches Convention.” With these words, Magalie Seabrooke, coach at VCF Academy Canada, explains her experience last week at the Ciudad Deportiva of Valencia CF.

an intense week of training

60 coaches from the VCF Academy Programs in America, Asia and Europe had the opportunity last week to share experiences in order to go deeper into the playing identity of the Valencia CF Academy.

Coaches from the different international projects of Valencia CF in Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Malta took part in the meeting and completed specific training in the three levels into which the III VCF Academy Coaches Convention was divided in order to adapt it more to the needs of the participants.

Some of them, like Magalie, were attending again, others were coming for the first time. “We are a new VCF Academy and we are finding some situations that here we have been able to raise in order to see how they are solving them in other Valencia CF Academies,” explains Alejandra Maffey, Director of VCF Academy Mexico.

“This Coaches Convention is going to help us a lot, both the coaches from VCF Academy Mexico who have come and me as director, to know how to solve these problems in the VCF Academy,” says Alejandra, who together with Magalie and other colleagues made up a large group of women that has grown in number just as the overall number of participants in the Coaches Convention has grown.

The 60 coaches had the opportunity to carry out theoretical and practical sessions with the different departments of the Valencia CF Academy, as well as enjoy a meeting with the Valencia CF head coach, Carlos Corberán, and a special closing event at Mestalla with the presence of Valencia CF General Director Javier Solís and Football CEO Ron Gourlay.

CLOSING AT MESTALLA

“Ending this Coaches Convention at Mestalla is something very special for us because it is a stadium that transmits many feelings,” says Dimitris Zisimatos, VCF Academy Greece Kefalonia (Technical Director), who took part in level 3 after also having attended the previous editions.

EXPANDING KNOWLEDGE

“It is always a very useful experience, for me and for my colleagues. It is always a great honour to be at the facilities of Valencia CF, to connect with a high level of knowledge and exchange opinions and experiences with people who share our same love for football. A very useful experience because in this way we can pass this knowledge on to our children in Greece.”

“When you come to the Coaches Convention you feel how connected we all are, that there are no distances, even if we are 6000 km away from Valencia and we are from different countries. They help us with the methodology, they care about us… coming here is more than a coaches convention. I think all the coaches from the VCF Academy Programs should come to the Coaches Convention,” concludes Magalie.

“We always tell them that they are part of the Valencia CF family and the VCF Academy and we treat them every day so that they feel it that way,” says Vicente Roch, Technical Director of the VCF Academy Programs, who highlights the loyalty and commitment of the participants. “If people come back it is because they feel that what they came for is useful for them and useful to take back to their country, to their academy, to improve their players. That is why there is the desire to make it a little better every time so that it is attractive for everyone,” Roch concludes.

The III VCF Academy Coaches Convention is part of the VCF Academy Programs, which each season organise a wide programme of activities in which more than 5000 players and 400 coaches from more than 50 countries around the world take part and can learn more about the playing methodology of the VCF Academy.
