Allan has been handed the minimum one-match suspension for an obscene gesture made against Fluminense in the Brazilian league.
According to Meu Timao, the STJD’s 3rd Disciplinary Commission delivered the verdict on Friday. He had already served it by missing the Internacional game that followed the defeat to Fluminense.
Corinthians’ defence cited the player’s public apology on social media and his remorse. The club also imposed an internal sanction, including a salary-based fine, forming sporting, contractual and financial measures.
They argued there had been a broad effort to hold the player accountable and educate him. With a positive disciplinary record and no pattern of dismissals, the incident was presented as isolated, and the minimum penalty requested.
The flashpoint came six minutes into the second half of the 3-1 loss at the Maracanã on 1 April after a clash with Lucho Acosta.
Referee Davi de Oliveira Lacerda initially booked both players, then Fluminense’s team complained that Allan had put his hand to his genitals. VAR official Rodrigo D’Alonso Ferreira called an on-field review. The act was judged a clear, disrespectful obscene gesture and a straight red followed under Law 12, which covers offensive, insulting or abusive language or actions.
Days later, in the derby, André Luiz repeated the gesture towards Andreas Pereira. He was charged by the STJD and given a one-match ban under Article 258 of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code, which he has already served.
