Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Santiago Gimenez is the only player Milan will be without for Sunday’s Serie A match away against Lazio, has provided comments on Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao and has hinted at which player could replace the suspended Adrien Rabiot.

Milan are in high spirits after their 1-0 victory over city rivals and league leaders Inter last weekend, which cut the deficit between the two teams to seven points at the top of the Serie A table with 10 games to go.

Up next for the Rossoneri is a trip to the capital to face Maurizio Sarri and Lazio, where Allegri’s side will be hoping to make it three Serie A wins on the spin.

Allegri provides Milan injury update: ‘Physically doing much better’

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Allegri confirmed that Gimenez is the only Milan player set to miss out against Lazio.

“Gimenez will not be there tomorrow, but he’s doing well from a psychological point of view,” said Allegri (via TMW).

Allegri also confirmed that Christian Pulisic “physically is doing much better. He had a good game in the derby. He’s constantly growing. Both he, Leao, Fullkrug and even Nkunku are doing well.”

Allegri’s trusted midfield general Rabiot, who has played the full 90 minutes in every Serie A match he has been available for this season, will be suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Inter last weekend.

A decision is still yet to be made over his replacement, but it is down to one of two options, Allegri confirmed.

“I don’t know who out of Jashari or Ricci will play, but the important thing is that the team puts in a good collective performance, with organisation and awareness. Lazio score a lot of goals towards the end of games.”
