Massimiliano Allegri is set to become the new Napoli coach after reaching an agreement on a two-year contract with the Serie A side.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations accelerated significantly over the last 24 hours, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis now having a full verbal agreement in place with the former Milan and Juventus boss.

The Tuscan tactician emerged victorious in the battle with Vincenzo Italiano and is now expected to lead the club into the post-Antonio Conte era.

The report states that the club’s legal and administrative teams have already begun preparing the paperwork needed to formalise the deal. Lawyers and transfer officials are reportedly working through the final contractual details before signatures can be completed.

Napoli clear final hurdles in Allegri deal

However, one final obstacle remains before the appointment can be officially announced. Allegri must first resolve his existing contractual situation with Milan.

Once that process is completed, Allegri is expected to sign the contract that will officially make him Napoli’s new head coach.

The appointment would represent another major chapter in Allegri’s long Serie A career. The experienced coach has already won league titles with both Milan and Juventus and now faces the task of replacing Conte in Naples.

Napoli had evaluated multiple candidates in recent weeks, but Allegri’s experience, trophy record and ability to manage pressure at elite clubs ultimately convinced De Laurentiis to push decisively for the former Juventus coach.

If finalised as expected, Allegri will inherit a squad preparing for another Champions League campaign while also attempting to mount a challenge for the Scudetto next season.
