Xabi Alonso has confirmed Moises Caicedo will miss Chelsea’s Carabao Cup clash with Leeds but could return this weekend.
Caicedo is yet to recover from the injury which kept him out of the defeat to Arsenal, with Alonso unwilling to take any unnecessary risks with the midfielder.
Summer signing Marco Palestra will also miss the Leeds game as he continues to work towards full fitness.
“No, not yet. Still not ready to go,” Alonso said when asked about the pair.
“Not the moment to take too early risk. So we go game by game with them and it’s too early.”

Asked whether Caicedo could return for Chelsea’s Premier League game on Saturday, Alonso added: “Potentially, yes. But we need to wait and probably Thursday, Friday, we’ll know more.”
There was better news regarding Levi Colwill, who is available to face Leeds after being an unused substitute against Arsenal.
“He’s okay,” Alonso confirmed. “He’s okay for tomorrow.”
Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha will also remain unavailable for the Carabao Cup tie, however.
Asked when the pair could be ready to return, Alonso said: “Ask me on Friday. Ask me on Friday.”
