Xabi Alonso has said Chelsea are undecided on whether to loan out Mykhailo Mudryk, but called the winger a ‘special player’.
Mudryk made his first appearance for Chelsea since being suspended in November 2024, during the club’s pre-season defeat.to Juventus in Hong Kong.
The Ukraine winger has been cleared to resume his career following a suspension for a failed drugs test.
Mudryk has linked up with the Chelsea squad for their pre-season tour under new head coach Alonso, though his immediate future remains unclear.
Clubs around Europe are understood to have expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old on loan, as the £88m signing looks to resurrect his career this season.
With Chelsea not in European competition, a loan could suit Mudryk, providing him with the minutes he needs to get back to full fitness.
Alonso has insisted that no decision has been made and said Chelsea will evaluate all options, as the Blues look to bring the best from a ‘special player’.
“No decision made,” Alonso said this week.
“Everything has happened so quick, so the main thing is that he was thinking about the person, to feel back that he was back in the group dynamic, part of a team, and we need to assess. But for sure, he’s a special player, it’s a special case with him, so we need to be sensitive.”
