1 - Die Werkself were in pole position at the end of 30 of the 34 completed Bundesliga matchdays in 2023/24 - likewise a club record.

2Alonso is just the second Spaniard to take charge of a Bundesliga club as head coach, after Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

2.2 – Alonso’s points-per-game average of 2.2 is the best of any coach in Leverkusen’s history. Only former Bayern bosses Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Hansi Flick, as well as current coach Vincent Kompany, have managed more. His goals-per-game average - which also stands at 2.2 - is also the best of any coach in Leverkusen’s history (205 in 92 games).

3 – Alonso has won three trophies as Leverkusen boss (2023/24 Bundesliga and DFB Cup, plus the 2024 Supercup), which is more than the club had ever won before (1992/93 DFB Cup and 1987/88 UEFA Cup).

7 – Die Werkself won a club record seven consecutive away games under Alonso in 2023/24.

9 – Alonso is just the ninth person to win the Bundesliga as both a player and a coach, after Hansi Flick, Niko Kovač, Thomas Schaaf, Matthias Sammer, Franz Beckenbauer, Felix Magath, Jupp Heynckes and Helmut Benthaus.

10 – Leverkusen set a club record of 10 consecutive wins between Matchdays 20 and 29 in 2023/24.

17 – When Alonso took over the reins at Leverkusen in October 2022 they were in 17th place in the table. They ended the 2022/23 campaign in sixth, and have only gone upwards ever since.

24 - Leverkusen only conceded 24 goals in their invincible 2023/24 Bundesliga season - a new club record.

33 - Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last 33 away games, equalling Bayern Munich's all-time record run (achieved under multiple coaches). Alonso is he first coach to manage such a streak.

Only four permanent coaches (excluding caretakers) have ever had a better tally in Bundesliga history, and all of them were at Bayern: Guardiola (80 percent), Flick (78 percent), Carlo Ancelotti (73 percent) and Kompany (72 percent). Alonso contributed to those numbers for Guardiola and Ancelotti as a player.

89 - Alonso's side scored 89 times in their title-winning season - a new club record.

90 - Leverkusen's total of 90 points accumulated in their title-winning season was also a club record and the joint-second highest of any team after Bayern's treble winners of 2012/13 (91).

311 - In Alonso's 138 competitive matches at the helm, Die Werkself have scored 311 goals and conceded 149.

2026 – At the start of August 2023, Alonso extended his contract at Leverkusen until 2026.
