Real Madrid have beaten Manchester United to the signature of Marc Cucurella.

It is no secret that United want to strengthen their left flank with a new full-back to provide genuine competition to Luke Shaw following Tyrell Malacia’s exit on a free transfer.

Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report which claimed that United had entered the race to sign Cucurella.

Manchester United considering signing Alvaro Carreras

Real Madrid have now officially agreed a deal worth €60 million (£52m) to sign Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. However, this development may help Manchester United get another talented left-back.

According to The Touchline on X, Cucurella’s move to the Spanish capital has opened the door for United to consider a move for Madrid star Alvaro Carreras.

It is claimed United are internally exploring a move to bring back Carreras after Madrid completed the signing of Cucurella. The youngster was described as “very complete” by former Real boss Xabi Alonso.

The former United academy left-back only joined Los Blancos from Benfica in a deal worth around €50m last summer. He endured a mixed debut campaign in Spain, but there are already question marks over his future.

It is understood that Carreras could look for a move in search of regular playing time following Cucurella’s arrival. The 27-year-old is expected to be Jose Mourinho’s first-choice left-back.

“No formal approach has been made yet, but United want to understand Carreras’ situation,” the report adds.

Manchester United keen on Lewis Hall

Given United snubbed an opportunity to trigger the buyback clause to re-sign Carreras from Benfica, it is fair to assume the 23-year-old is not rated very highly at Old Trafford.

Furthermore, it is believed United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, is keen on signing Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall

On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano claimed that United have been in contact with Hall’s representatives in the past two to three days. Newcastle, however, are thought to be reluctant to sell the England left-back.
