Cádiz have reached an agreement to renew the contract of former Manchester City striker Álvaro Negredo, report AS.
The 37-year-old, who won the Premier League with Manchester City, joined the Andalucían side in 2020 and since then he has scored 19 goals in 83 games in all competitions for the club. He played an instrumental role in helping Cádiz get promoted back to La Liga last season by scoring seven goals in the second division.
Negredo’s contract was set to expire in June 2023, but Los Piratas chose to extend the veteran’s deal by a further year until June 2024.
So far this season he has scored one goal in nine games, as well as provided an assist.
Despite having the worst start in the history of La Liga, Cádiz have shown improvement over the last couple of weeks. They are currently level on points with Sevilla, who are just above the relegation zone.
