Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has revealed his take that Kylian Mbappé currently stands as the standout player in world football.
This comes fresh off the Frenchman being cleared for competitive action.
Frontman Mbappé has of course spent the last couple of weeks on the treatment table, owing to a knee injury.
Real Madrid have for the most part fared well in his absence, racking up four wins from five in all competitions.
This includes a 3-0 drubbing of Manchester City, which saw some call into question whether Los Merengues may in fact be a better collective unit without their top scorer.
Speaking to the media ahead of Tuesday’s return leg at The Etihad, the aforementioned Álvaro Arbeloa was therefore drawn on such suggestions.
And the Spanish tactician went on to respond:
“People say we’re better without Mbappé? It’s difficult to think that Real Madrid is better without the best player in the world! But it speaks volumes about the team and how well they’re doing.”
